Health and Safety Consultant

Simon has been active in health and safety since 1992 and is a qualified and experienced health and safety practitioner and training consultant. Simon's career has been diverse and wide ranging, encompassing roles from the shop floor to board room level director, and in many differing industries, including office, warehouse, factory, construction and contracting sectors.

As the senior director for the largest commercial flooring contractor in the UK, Simon was responsible for all the health and safety issues for over 260 contractors and staff operating from 7 regional offices throughout the UK and Europe. For four years running they achieved the British Safety Council's top safe business award.

Health and safety career highlights include a 1,000+ site programme over an 18 month period for Romec and the Post Office, which was successfully delivered with no injuries or loss. Simon's corporate client list is equally impressive, working alongside the likes of Harrods and Selfridges, British Aerospace, Citibank and B.P. Jones Laing and the Interiors Group.

Simon also has a great deal of experience in providing health and safety to the facility management and cleaning sectors, working at NVQ level with, amongst others, Johnson Controls & ISS. As an accredited associate for the Institute for Independent Business, Simon also has experience of working in the SME, (Small Medium Enterprise) sector helping independent businesses from start-up through to helping them to achieve the CHAS and Britannia Safe Contractors Scheme awards.

Simon's consultancy experience includes writing bespoke health and safety policies, carrying out formal in-depth audits of companies' safety systems, through to management reports, safety tours, risk assessments, safe systems of work and the like. In addition to Simon's health and safety experience, Simon is an experienced director, manager and communicator, being an accredited Pack Types© psychometric practitioner, vital to bringing the team together and successfully communicating the safety message.

Since joining Associated Training and Consultancy, Simon has been involved in designing and delivering health and safety training including accredited courses from NEBOSH and ConstructionSkills/CITB.

Simon's many qualifications in this area of expertise include the NEBOSH Construction Certificate and NEBOSH Fire Certificate; the City and Guilds 7303 PTTLS (Level 4) and the British Safety Council Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, as well as the SMSTS and STCW95 certificates. Simon also holds Technician Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) and associate membership on the International Institute for Risk and Safety Management.

Additional health and safety related qualifications include Emergency First Response first aid instructor, both First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid, P.A.T. Tester and MCA approved Fire Fighting and Risk Assessment (Ryde Fire Station).
