Janice Cooper


Health and Safety Consultant

Janice previously worked as a Health & Safety Officer and an HR Officer within the police service. She took forward a number of initiatives including the organisation of a Healthy Working Conference for the public sector looking at breaking down silos, sharing best practice and innovations to promote health and well being of the workforce.

A qualified Resilience Trainer, Janice has created and delivered various training packages on stress resilience and trauma awareness to operational police officers and staff, including training managers how to carry out work based risk assessments and apply the management standards for stress as recommended by the HSE.

Janice has also devised a generic risk assessment which, with directed adjustments for managers to consider, enables the risk assessment to be personalised and so facilitate retention and re-integrations within the workplace of individuals affected by stress, mental health problems or long / short term absence as appropriate.

Janice has also been a general manager within the healthcare profession, where one of her successes was turning a failing nursing home into a successful, profitable business.

As a member of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and an Accredited De-briefer, Janice has supported individuals suffering from mental health problems, for example, stress, depression and PTSD. She has also worked with and assisted managers in supporting staff who may be suffering with mental health issues at work and those on sickness leave with mental health problems.

As a Health and Safety Consultant within Associated Training and Consultancy, Janice designs and delivers numerous training courses including: IOSH Managing Safely, IOSH Working Safely, Manual Handling, Display Screen Equipment (DSE) for Risk Assessors, along with health and safety induction and absence management courses.

Janice's qualifications in this area include: the NEBOSH General Certificate; the NEBOSH Fire Certificate; Certificate in Education (Further, Adult and Higher Education); and a BTEC Professional Development Certificate in Management Studies. Janice also holds Technician Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH), Membership of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) and is an ICISF Accredited De-briefer.
