Chris Pyke
Health and Safety Consultant
Chris is a qualified and experienced Health and Safety Practitioner and Training Consultant, with many years of diverse experiences to support his theoretical expertise.
With over 15 years in the manufacturing industry and working from 1977 as a Union Safety Representative, a change of direction came in the 1980s into self employment within the outdoor leisure industry, providing equipment to different venues nationwide, and later running a purpose built indoor play facility for children until the early 1990s.
Returning to the retail sector Chris worked for a national supermarket chain in a management capacity. Involved in the day to day running of an on site warehouse and ensuring internal and external customer expectations were met with responsibilities for health and safety within the department.
Chris then moved on to a company selling over 28,000 lines of articles via specialist catalogues ranging from pencils to specialist scientific fume cupboards. He was in charge of a stand alone goods-inward warehouse with 8,500 pallet locations with over 40 vehicles delivering daily on site. Within his responsibilities were training inductions and health and safety responsibilities for the site.
With his ongoing interest in health and safety, an opportunity to join a local college in 2002 could not be missed. The college were pioneering distance learning delivered in the workplace which included health and safety training and business modules at different levels. A move back to industry in 2003 was then followed by a return to a college in 2004 delivering a range of health and safety courses and National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) including Warehousing, Performing Manufacturing Operations and more recently Business Improvement Techniques before joining Associated Training and Consultancy.
Since joining Associated Training and Consultancy, Chris has been involved in designing and delivering training including accredited health and safety courses from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and NEBOSH Certificate qualifications. In particular he has been leading the delivery of a major health and safety programme for BAA.
Chris's many qualifications in this area of expertise include the NEBOSH General Certificate; the City and Guilds 7302 - Post 16 Teaching Certificate; the A1 Assessors Award; and the V1 Internal Verifiers award. Chris also holds Technician Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH).
