I have always enjoyed my job here at Associated Training and Consultancy. It has given me some marvellous experiences working with some wonderful and talented people and delivering a huge variety of different courses or challenges with some pretty diverse consultancy situations. This has sometimes led to working in some of the most unusual locations too.

A number come to mind, such as researching how a team of removal men work together at Pickford's Removals. I had the privilege of working with these guys for a couple of days whilst they moved commercial offices and homes in the south of England travelling in the cab of a huge removals lorry.

Once, whilst conducting research for a global biscuit and confectionery firm, I visited a high security prison in the North East to look at potential possibilities of selling chocolate in prisons. This was a fascinating experience and sometimes a little threatening too!

I have coached in car showrooms and out on the road giving practical hands on advice on how to sell to customers in a very much live situation. I have been involved in selling many cars from a variety of manufacturers and occasionally the most unusual products in the field such as rubber belts in engineering to ladies underwear! I always wanted to say I worked in ladies underwear and now I can!

On our team building and leadership courses, I have trained in many interesting locations over the years including abseiling down Malham Cove and venturing into various caves in the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales.

Most recently however my experiences have been closer to home………..in fact in my home! This year we have had the enormous privilege to work with Teenage Cancer Trust delivering First Line Manager training mainly at the head office in London. Two delegates missed the training but were still keen not to miss out. To save costs of these guys travelling down to London, I was more than happy to offer the use of my farmhouse kitchen in North Yorkshire. It is quite different delivering management training around an old pine table in front of a warm Aga!
