Team Building and Leadership Development
Activities and Exercises
Our team building and leadership programmes can be delivered in a conventional indoor setting or incorporate the 'outdoor' medium. We are well qualified and very experienced in delivering a wide range of activities that can be engineered to be a high motivation ' shared experience' event, or a task within a programme module. We can also provide a very wide and varied range of exercises that can reflect a group's team challenges, develop the leadership of the individuals and simulate the task processes of the group.
We are also regularly devising and designing new, unique exercises and activities to make the programme memorably enjoyable yet meaningful to the course objectives.
There is in excess of 200 exercises in our portfolio - most of which can be substantially modified to suit the group and the venue.
Here are a few:-
Rollerball
Outline: This exercise is based around a team of between 10 and 40 people broken down into sub-units of 2 - 4. Each unit is given their own objective and working guidelines, which link into the overall group objective. Success is judged on a group basis, rather than for individual units, so it is a collaborative rather than competitive exercise.
Each sub-unit works in a specified area and is tasked with designing and building part of a "Rollerball" track that must meet certain design specifications and ultimately link in with other teams' constructions. Teams need to interact and share information in order to develop an effective process to ensure the balls travels through all the necessary zones and meets the requirements and constraints of the exercise. For example, the ball must travel from one zone through other specified zones, negotiating right angle bends and free-falls, and must stay in those zones for a minimum time period.
There are limited resources available to the group, and each team is given a budget with which to acquire these; again, collaboration will enhance results. Teams are also rewarded for originality and creativity.
Drought Conditions
There are two buckets located in exclusion zones, one of, which is full of water. Both zones are some distance away from the start point. Using the resources available they have to empty one bucket into the other - without any spillage - without handling either bucket!
Rope Bridge
The group can be sub-divided across a ravine (imaginary or real) with a rope system that has to be completed. They can either simply strengthen the system (under the steady scrutiny of our instructors) in order that they transport themselves across or they can receive additional items and tasks e.g. transporting water for refilling mid-way.
Vehicle Recovery
The group has to overcome a number of challenges to gain key items of equipment and the keys to gain access to the 4 x 4 Vehicle trapped in the exclusion zone (this can be a real river or stream!). The brief says that they have to recover the vehicle onto the opposite side by applying the movement on the side that the team is on. This means that they have to set up a system, cross the zone onto the vehicle without touching the ground (and for some onto the other side) and co-ordinate the team for the recovery stage.
Barrel Bridge
The team have to cross the divide but the only way across is over three barrels - one of which needs to be moved. They will need to use the three planks available to them to climb on and produce a bridge construction.
Sheep and Shepherd
One Team member is responsible for corralling the rest of the group into a 'pen' like sheep. However the challenge is that the 'sheep' are blindfolded and NO-ONE is allowed to talk and the 'shepherd can't move from their spot! They only have some preparation time and a whistle.
