Press Release - GET ORGANISED, IT WILL MAKE YOUR DAY

'GET ORGANISED - IT WILL MAKE YOUR DAY'
Do you end up doing everything at the 11th hour? Have you missed another deadline and failed to make your target this month? You might just be disorganised, but it is more likely that you are constantly put upon by others, interrupted and deluged by emails.
Having another hour in the day won't help you manage your workload any better; it is your conduct which is usually at the root of the problem. The good news is that you can do something about it.
For many years, training companies have provided courses on time management. But, as Andrew Tylee, Director of Training at Associated Training & Consultancy, says, it's an inappropriate name for the course.
"A better name for these courses would be Personal Effectiveness. You can't manage time; you can only manage yourself. It's important to look at yourself and how you function in the workplace and understand that you're almost certainly putting emphasis in the wrong areas."
The golden rule is to stop what you're doing and plan. Once you step outside the chaos, you'll be able to see more clearly what the priorities are. Divert your phone, switch off your computer and write a Time Plan, but be realistic and build flexibility into the list to allow for interruptions.
But everything, says Tylee, can be dealt with under one of the Four D's: "You either Do it now, Dump it, Defer it or Delegate."
At the end of day, there are some things that can't be controlled. But if you get a better handle on those that can, you may then create more time to plough through those hundreds of emails each day!
