MBTI
Myers Briggs Type Indicator
MBTI is probably the world’s best known and most highly valued personality instrument. It was created by over 50 years ago by a mother and daughter combination of psychologists who were keen to make Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Jung’s theories on psychological types more accessible and practical. Our director of training is licensed to administer MBTI.
What does MBTI measure?
MBTI measures the preferences that we have within our personalities and the strengths of those preferences. It produces a picture of each individual’s set of personality preferences across four scales. These are:
- Extraversion-Introversion – how each of us is energised
- Sensing-Intuition – what each of us pays attention to
- Thinking-Feeling – how we take decisions
- Judging-Perceiving – what kind of lifestyle we prefer
What is the value of MBTI?
The instrument has been used successfully for many years by a wide variety of users across all sectors. MBTI functions as a tool that helps people in organisations to:
- Understand themselves and their behaviours
- Appreciate others so as to make constructive use of individual differences
