Who will benefit: Anyone who is responsible for, or likely to be involved in, handling discipline and grievance in the workplace.
Objectives: By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Explain the key legislation that impacts on handling discipline and grievance in the workplace and the role of ACAS
- State the rights of the employee in the disciplinary and grievance process
- Manage absence and poor performance in a positive manner within the legal framework
- Conduct fair and objective investigations relating to disciplinary and grievance issues
- Carry out effective disciplinary / grievance hearings using a range of key communication and interpersonal skills

- Preparing the cases and strategy
Module Five – The disciplinary/grievance hearing
- Choosing and preparing the Venue
- Opening the hearing

Module Six – Communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective questioning techniques

NB: Where clients choose this course to be delivered on a bespoke basis, the organisation’s own policies and procedures can be introduced, together with case studies and role-plays, using professional actors. These can be designed around the issues pertinent to their organisation/industry.
