Occupational drivers have a 50% greater risk of being involved in an incident or collision than most other road users, and around 1,000 workers are killed on the UK's roads each year.

This thought provoking training session provides an opportunity for employers to ensure that their employees who drive for work purposes understand the principles of safe driving.

By examining on the theory that underpins safe driving on today's roads, this training session provides a cost effective means to improve the driving abilities of all employees. The course uses hard video footage and interactive activities to encourage the development of a positive attitude to driving, whilst giving employees an understanding of how personal factors can affect driving performance.

Core modules of the Safe Driving course include:

  • The health and safety implications of driving on company business

  • The recognition, perception and interpretation of road hazards

  • Managing risk to improve safety

  • Developing a systematic approach to safer driving

  • Reducing stress and driver fatigue

  • Journey planning for safety and efficiency

  • Understanding modern vehicle dynamics

Course Material

Each delegate will be issued with a workbook to assist them both during and after the course which will contain information and guidance to assist workers. The Safe Driving course is designed to be interactive, allowing delegates the opportunity to develop their skills with the support of the course tutor.

Course Tutor

Our health and safety consultants are qualified and experienced health and safety professionals with an appropriate background in road safety and many years of experience in delivering engaging health and safety training programmes. Our lead tutor for this programme is a former safety professional with the police service. All consultants hold professional membership of the chartered Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

Course Duration

The Safe Driving course is delivered over half a day (3 hours). This allows you to put two groups on the course in one day if you have a large number of delegates, or don't wish everyone to be on the course and away from the workplace at the same time.

Certification

Delegates will be awarded a certificate of attendance upon successful completion of the course.
