Who should attend SSSTS Courses?
The CITB Site Supervisors' Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) course is for those who have, or are about to acquire, supervisory responsibilities on a construction site.
Being a supervisor on a construction site is an extremely important responsibility, so it is vital that those in such a position have the necessary knowledge to ensure that others are working safely on site. The SSSTS qualification will give site supervisors a level of understanding of certain issues such as their legal health and safety responsibilities.
Aims and Objectives
At the end of the course delegates should be able to:
Key topics of the SSSTS course include:
Our SSSTS course tutors are qualified and experienced health and safety consultants with an appropriate background in risk management and delivering health and safety courses.
Duration of the SSSTS course
The course will be delivered over two days.
During the course projects are undertaken in groups and constantly assessed by the tutor. At the conclusion of the course, delegates are required to undertake a short multiple choice assessment. Delegates who successfully complete the projects and assessment are awarded the Construction Skills (CITB) Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme certificate.
Scheduled SSSTS Courses and Cost:
We currently run the CITB/ConstructionSkills Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) courses as open courses in Nottingham, Central London and Reading, as well as in-house SSSTS training courses. For those interested in the management of health and safety in their particular place of work, the 4-day IOSH Managing Safely course is worth a look. Unlike a SSSTS course which concentrates on contruction site risks, the IOSH Managing Safely course syllabus is designed to be suitable for managers in virtually any industry. This means not only is it a popular and well-recognised health and safety qualification due to the the number of people that it caters to, but will be useful when changing jobs or moving between industries or different departments.
If you do not require an accredited health and safety course, or cannot take two days out of the workplace to attend an SSSTS course, then our own General Safety Awareness course may be more appropriate. Written by ourselves, this 1-day course will cover the main areas of health and safety associated with a palce of work, with the syllabus including topics such as risk assessments, legislation, accident prevention, policy documents and more. The syllabus can also be used as a starting point around which to design a bespoke health and safety course or programme which is tailored to the exact requirements of your employees and the dangers they may encounterer whilst performing their workplace duties.
