Behavioural Styles Survey
If you would like to learn about the behaviours that you tend to use and how they may come across to other people, why not fill in our free survey below? It will only take you a couple of minutes and will give an accurate insight into your preferred styles of behaviour.
This survey is designed to identify your preferred behaviour style or styles. Unlike a personality test, this survey is not about who you are, but about what you do and how you do it. It does not look aim to 'put you in a box' but to identify your current preferences which may change as you change and develop.
This behaviour styles survey separates behaviour into four styles: Directing, Inspiring, Observing and Supporting. The higher your score in each style, the stronger your preference is for using this style of behaviour.
- Director - You tend to be a competitive and decisive individual. You enjoy taking charge, are strong willed and quick to make decisions. You enjoy problem solving and like to demonstrate your skills to other people. You may also be a little too quick to act and are sometimes in danger of pushing other people too hard in order to get what you want.
- Inspirer - You are a very social person and care a great deal about how others feel and what they think. Flexible and spontaneous, you are fun to have around and you have a natural ability to inspire and motivate other people. You can sometimes be in danger of being too flexible and trying to meet the needs of everyone around you. You may also find it hard to handle not being liked or having to tell someone things they don't want to hear.
- Observer - You are naturally an analytical and reflective person. You tend to be very methodical and enjoy careful planning. Details are important to you, as is making unbiased, objective decisions based upon all the facts available. At times your careful analysis may be too cautious and take too long. You may come across as quite introverted and can be in danger of becoming stubborn.
- Supporter - Acting according to your principles is very important to you, as is fairness and doing things right. You will put a lot of energy into supporting others and are very patient and encouraging. You may also stick a little too rigidly to your principles and may not be open to new or unconventional ways of doing things. At times, you may come across as self-righteous or even bossy.
These categories are based upon many years of research by well known psychologists such as Carl Jung, Eric Fromm and Hans Eysenck and are designed to give you a better understanding of your natural preferred style or styles. Most people will have one or more preferred styles of behaviour which they will tend to use more than the other styles as they have learned that such behaviours give them the most success.
