European Union Social Fund:

The European Social Fund (ESF) is one of four Structural Funds designed to strengthen economic and social cohesion in the European Union. The current programmes run from 2000 to 2006. ESF will provide about £4.5 billion in Great Britain (£3.5 billion in England) in this period.

The European Social Fund aims to:

• Help unemployed and inactive people enter work
• Provide opportunities for people at a disadvantage in the labour market
• Promote lifelong learning
• Develop the skills of employed people
• Improve women's participation in the labour market

Business Link:

Business Link is an easy to use to use business support, advice and information service managed by the DTI. Local presence across England, managed by business people for business people, means we are uniquely placed to identify business services from across the government, voluntary and private sectors.

Learning and Skills Council

The LSC exists to make England better skilled and more competitive. We have a single goal: to improve the skills of England's young people and adults to make sure we have a workforce that is of world-class standards.

We are responsible for planning and funding high-quality vocational education and training for everyone. Our vision is that by 2010, young people and adults in England have the knowledge and skills matching the best in the world and are part of a fiercely competitive workforce.

Management One Account

The Management One Account is a programme that supports managers and leaders from small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and Social Enterprises in the East Midlands to develop their training needs and move them forwards.

East Midlands Development Agency

East Midlands Development Agency (emda) is one of nine Regional Development Agencies in England set up in 1999 to bring a regional focus to economic development.

In 1999 we set a vision for the economy of the East Midlands; to be a top 20 region in Europe by 2010. It's an ambitious target, but we can achieve it by making our region a place where people want to live, work and invest. And they'll want to do this if we create a vibrant, successful economy, a healthy, safe and inclusive society and a good quality environment.

East of England Development Agency

EEDA's remit is wide and the regional economic strategy shapes our activity. The goals, priorities and actions it sets out for the East of England provide the focus for all our work and inform the programmes and initiatives we support.

Yorkshire Forward

Yorkshire Forward is the Regional Development Agency responsible for the sustainable economic development and regeneration of the Yorkshire and Humber area.

Almost 5 million people help make Yorkshire and Humber larger than 80 of the world's countries, including Singapore, Norway and New Zealand. This region boasts one of the UK's most powerful and diverse economies, growing consistently faster than the European average and with a total GDP of £71 Billion, Yorkshire and Humber ranks alongside the top third of the world's economies. Our aim is to make it a truly world class region in which to live, work and invest.

Institute of Leadership and Management

The Institute of Leadership & Management ('ILM') is an awarding body which aims to build leadership and management at the individual, team and organisational levels. ILM provides managers in every sector and at every level with the active support they need to advance in management. This support takes a variety of forms, leading to nationally recognised qualifications, ILM Membership and access to learning support packages.

Chartered Management Institute

As the champion of management, the Chartered Management Institute shapes and supports the managers of tomorrow. By sharing the latest insights and setting standards in management development, the Institute helps to deliver results in a dynamic world.

The Law Society

The Law Society is the regulatory and representative body for 116,000 solicitors in England and Wales. We have important public responsibilities:

• Regulating and setting standards for solicitors to make sure they deliver a good and ethical service to consumers.
• Representing solicitors.
• Supporting solicitors to help them achieve the standards expected of them, and deliver good service.
• Influencing law reform to achieve a better system of justice.

Institute of Occupational Safety & Health

IOSH, Europe's leading body for health and safety professionals, represents 28,000 members in over 50 countries. An independent, not-for-profit organisation, the Institution regulates and steers the profession, maintaining standards and providing impartial, authoritative guidance on health and safety issues.

National Examination Board in Occupations Safety & Health

Founded in 1979, the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health is an independent awarding body attracting 15,000 candidates each year. NEBOSH qualifications are recognised and respected by employers in all sectors of the economy and provide the benchmark standard against which others are compared. NEBOSH was the first health and safety awarding body to have been given accreditation by the government's Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA).

Association of Learning Providers

The Association of Learning Providers is recognised as the voice of independent learning providers throughout the United Kingdom.

We work closely with policy makers such as Government departments, Members of Parliament, and skills funding agencies, such as the Learning and Skills Council, Jobcentre Plus, Ufi and Business Link. We are involved in the development of government strategy with the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) and other national bodies. Members' views on training are represented to the policy makers when new initiatives are being planned.

UK Register of Learning Providers

The UK Register of Learning Providers is a DfES 'one-stop' portal to be used by government departments, agencies, learners, and employers to share key information about learning providers. The UKRLP allows providers to update their information in only one place and share this across agencies such as, the Learning and Skills Council, the National Learning Directory, the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and UCAS.

Institute for Outdoor Learning

The Institute for Outdoor Learning is a registered charity that exists to encourage participation in outdoor learning by developing quality, safety and opportunity in outdoor provision and by supporting and enhancing the good practice of those who work in the field.

The Institute supports children, young people and adults in the private, voluntary, charitable and public sectors by providing opportunities for professional development, networking and sharing good practice, representing their views and the wider interests of outdoor learning, and developing partnerships with other organisations.
